In this age of rapidly evolving technology, California is trying to do something unusual: get ahead of a big development before it goes public. The DMV is writing rules to regulate driverless cars.
Steven M. Sweat‘s insight:
I think this is a little premature on the part of the California DMV. Driverless cars do need rules of the road, though, as much or more than motor vehicles operated by humans “behind the wheel” instead of computers. I think there will only be so many drivers in the Golden State who opt to give up their freedom to travel at “their own speed” for the sake of a computer optimized trip.
