How safe are the world’s cities for cyclists?

The deaths of six cyclists in the past two weeks have highlighted the dangers of taking to London’s busy streets. But what is it like to cycle in other major cities around the world?

A good assessment of bicycle safety in varioius major world cities including Los Angeles.  L.A. gets mixed reviews with praise for recent efforts to install more bike lanes and make the city more bicycle friendly but, concession that the city is still one where “cars rule” and biking can be dangerous.  The article points out that there are about two bicycle collision fatalities a month in the “City of Angels” (lower than some per capita but, still alarmingly high).
