Pedestrian’s headphones are possible cause of fatal accident

A 15-year-old girl has been identified as the victim of a crash on Niles Street, and officers say she may have walked into the path of a car because she was wearing headphones.

Steven M. Sweat‘s insight:

Another apparent, tragic case of “distracted walking” causing a pedestrian death in California.  This teenage girl from Bakersfield apparently walked into the path of an oncoming car due to listening to headphones at the time of the incident.  This is a reminder to us all to put down the smart phones and other electronic devices and pay attention when crosssing roadways on foot.
