Tesla’s Third Model S Fire Brings Call for U.S. Safety Inquiry

Steven M. Sweat‘s insight:

This is now the third incident of a Tesla catching fire.  Vehicle fires kill hundreds of people every year across the U.S.   In my opinion, Tesla would be best advised to conduct further studies on the safety of their cars as an incineration incident causing injury or death could result in a claim for personal injury or wrongful death which may well impact their bottom line.  If it is shown that they had some prior knowledge of the propensity of their vehicles to catch fire, the company could be liable for both damages to compensate the victims as well as damages meant to punish them for wrongdoing.
