California street safety officials warn pedestrians and cyclists: Be alert this Halloween!

With winter arriving, street safety officials are informing the public that we all need to be watchful as we walk or bicycle to work, store or school.

Steven M. Sweat‘s insight:

Great advice for parents intending to take their kids out trick or treating this Halloween.

  1. Make sure your child’s costume can be seen
  2. Some masks impair peripheral vision.  Take them off when crossing streets.
  3. Carry a flashlight
  4. Walking in groups is better than walking alone
  5. Always cross at the corner and not in the middle of the block
