Widow’s lawsuit: Deadly plane crash into Route 287 was due to pilot negligence

Widow blames dead pilot, company that owned his plane

Steven M. Sweat‘s insight:

This was a tragic and fatal plane crash due to icing conditions on a smaller turbo prop plane attempting to make a winter trip.  The family of the passenger is alleging that the pilot of the plane failed to obtain proper weather reports, report icing of his wings sooner or make an emergency landing.  The legal issues will be whether a reasonable prudent pilot would have acted differently given the same weather conditions and flying a similar aircraft.
