Lawsuit filed by Park City horse rider paralyzed in car crash

A woman who was permanently paralyzed after the horse she was riding was struck by a car in 2011 has filed a lawsuit against the teenage driver and Summit County.

Steven M. Sweat‘s insight:

Horseback riding is a great sport and activity but, unfortunately, riding accidents cause serious spinal injuries including paralysis every year.  The allegations in this lawsuit for personal injuries are that an SUV collided with or spooked the horse causing the rider to be ejected and sustain spinal cord damage resulting in a permanent paralyzed state.  The lesson to be learned here is that motor vehicle operators must be extremely cautious while driving in areas that are known to have horseback riders.
