California gives a huge payoff to the NFL at the Expense of Players Crippled By Years of Physical Beatings

Gov. Jerry Brown on Tuesday signed a bill giving the National Football League an enormous break — at the expense of players who get hurt, sometimes devastatingly, entertaining the fans. He should be ashamed.

Good op-ed piece here by the #losangelestimes de-bunking the various myths that were perpetuated by the pro-sports lobby to get the California State Legislature to bar workers compensation claims by former players.  Earl Campbell is a prime example of “cumulative trauma” taking its toll on these players.
