Yet another instance of a celebrity getting “fed up” with the paparazzi and lashing out. As a criminal defense attorney in Los Angeles, I would answer the above question, probably not. The case is being charged as a misdemeanor, which usually results in “summary probation” (i.e. a plea of guilty in exchange for no jail time but, an agreement to not violate any further laws for a period of time, usually two years). There may also be defenses to the claim including self defense, which may result in an acquittal if the case were tried or may provide leverage for a plea to a lesser charge.
