‘Walk To School Day’ Promotes A Pedestrian Culture*

October 9th is “Walk to School Day” for Los Angeles schools, the kick-off event of “International Walk to School Month,” which is designed to educate kids about pedestrian safety and celebrate the benefits of walking.

Steven M. Sweat‘s insight:

As a kid, I always walked to and from my local, public elementary school.  I think children have gotten away from this practice for many reasons including issues of pedestrian safety.  In my opinion, this deprives kids of good physical activity and a chance to socialize with their peers.  As an attorney in Los Angeles that represents pedestrians , I am proud to support these types of causes.
