Tires that are cold are more rigid and prone to skidding than tires that have been warmed up.  As we come into the fall, motorcycle riders should be aware of the dangers of the cold tire crash.  This is a good primer on the subject.  The bottom line is that you need to ride a bit and get the tires warm before making any sharp banks or turns.
