Raise the cap on malpractice awards

For decades, advocates of tort reform have pushed to limit the amount that courts can award for noneconomic damages such as pain and suffering.

Steven M. Sweat‘s insight:

It is nice to see a variety of support emerging for the lifting of the pain and suffering damages caps on medical malpractice awards in California including from academics in the legal field.  It is insane that the cap has been so low for so long and has deprived thousands of Californians injured by medical negligence a chance at a fair amount to compensate for their losses of life and limb.
